Your town. Your community. Your inside scoop.

Monday, Oct. 5|Issue #1|Wellington, FL.

Interesting Fact:

Wellington, Florida, was once home to 2,000 acres of strawberries, making it the largest strawberry patch in the world before it was developed into the Winter Equestrian Capital of the World.

Wellington’s residential water meter replacement began in June 2026 and is expected to take 12 to 18 months.

The new smart meters will send usage readings wirelessly to the utility office, replacing weekly drive-by collection.

For households, the promised benefits are more accurate bills, better customer service and improved notifications.

The automated system should also reduce routine vehicle trips through Wellington neighborhoods once it is in place.

The village says customers will face no direct charge for the replacement.

Residents need not be home for installation, but should watch for a mailed notice and a door hanger before crews arrive.

Authorized Envocore technicians will wear uniforms and carry photo identification, and their vehicles will be marked.

Water service may be interrupted for 15 to 30 minutes.

Afterward, residents should run a bathtub faucet or outdoor spigot for two to three minutes to clear air from the lines.

Clearing plants and landscaping around meter boxes beforehand can help installations go smoothly.

Wellington fans can catch the Blues Brothers Soul Band nearby this fall, but the show is in Delray Beach, not Wellington.

The tribute band is scheduled to perform October 2, 2026, from 8 to 10 p.m. at 94 NE 2nd Ave in Delray Beach.

Paul Ferretti plays Jake Blues and Robert Vicens plays Elwood, backed by a full band with guitar, keyboards, bass, drums and horns.

The act channels the sharp suits, swagger and rhythm and blues that made the fictional brothers famous, with a sound inspired by soul legends including Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles.

Those influences are not a confirmed setlist, and no Wellington performance is listed, so local fans should plan for a trip to Delray Beach.

Wellington residents can explore the Everglades through art this fall at Cornell Art Museum in downtown Delray Beach.

River of Grass opens October 1, 2026, with a $5 reception and artist meet-and-greet from 6 to 8 in the evening.

Named for Marjory Stoneman Douglas’s influential 1947 book, River of Grass offers Wellington families a fresh way to experience a landscape central to South Florida’s future.

Wellington residents may notice a stronger chlorine smell or taste in their tap water this October as Wellington Utilities carries out routine maintenance.

From October 5 through October 26, the utility will temporarily use free chlorine instead of chloramines to disinfect drinking water.

The utility says the water will remain safe to drink and that crews will monitor chlorine levels and test water quality daily.

A noticeable chlorine smell alone does not mean the water is unsafe.

Crews may also flush neighborhood fire hydrants to move water through the system and clear sediment and minerals from pipes.

Residents with questions about specific health needs should consult a doctor, while aquarium owners should check their tap water treatment routine before filling tanks.

Wellington Utilities expects to resume using chloramines after the maintenance period ends.
